house 252

client: private client

The house - detached, 1930’s - was pleasant enough, but the main event was the view of the Edge: steep and darkly tree-lined, framed by the formal landscape of the south-facing back garden. The Practice has transformed the interior of the house to take advantage of this view.

The garden room is a celebration of space, light and view. Its glass walls are minimally detailed - clear double-glazed units set in dark-coated steel frames - and act as a transparent membrane which blurs the boundary between internal and external space.
