house 794

client: darren barlow

The brief called for a replacement dwelling on a site that lies within the green belt on the border of Worsley and Boothstown.  The road is characterised by large detached houses set behind dense hedgerows and trees.

In order to reduce the impact of the busy Leigh Road, the internal arrangement locates the living space to the rear overlooking the quiet garden.  The bedrooms are located towards the front and are protected from the noisy main road by a predominantly walled elevation.  The form reflects the disposition of the living spaces around a central wall/chimney, which is a common theme in traditional dwellings.
